The jackpot for Mega Millions is bigger, sparking lottery fever across the country.
Here’s what you need to know about both awards:
The Powerball prize had grown to $ 550 million (monetary value: $ 411.4 million) by Sunday morning, the largest potential prize since March 2019.
Powerball officials say it may be the ninth-largest prize in the game’s history.
The next draw will be held on Wednesday, January 13th.
Although no one won the jackpot, two tickets match all five white balls to win one million dollars. Those tickets were sold out in Pennsylvania and Florida.
The jackpot was last hit in New York in the September 16, 2020 drawing.
“It’s been two years since the games simultaneously offered big prizes of this magnitude, and our players are here for that,” said May Chief Reardon, President of Powerball Product Group and CEO of Missouri Lottery.
Powerball is played in 45 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands.
The Mega Millions Grand Prix has reached $ 600 million for the fourth time in history.
Many lottery players are hoping to have their luck as there is no matching card for all the six numbers drawn on Friday night.
On Friday, the winning numbers were: 18, 3, 58, 16, 6 and a megapole of 11.
Although no one won the Mega Millions jackpot earlier this week, five tickets match all five white balls, making players in California, Georgia, Massachusetts, New Jersey and New York millionaires.
Four of the winners won $ 1 million, and the winner from New York bought the optional Megaplier, raising his prize to $ 2 million.
Sister station WABC-TV reported that the $ 2 million winning ticket was purchased at Citgo Mart in Middletown, Orange County, and a winning $ 1 million ticket was sold at Masso’s Deli & Pizzeria in Gibsboro, New Jersey.
The odds of matching all 5 numbers and a Powerball number are 1 in about 293 million, according to the Multinational Lottery Association. The total chance of winning a prize is 1 in 24.87.
Mega Millions tickets are sold in 44 states plus the District of Columbia and the US Virgin Islands.
The next drawing is on Tuesday.
